Kia ora Woolston Development Project whanau,
Our October Holiday Programme is fast approaching and there are a couple of updates.
We weren’t able to book a second swimming pool visit as the Christchurch City Council isn’t booking further holiday programme swims at any of their pools. When we discovered this, we tried to book Loopy Tunes to do some music with us on that day (Wednesday 13 October). They aren’t taking in-person bookings during Alert Level 2 either so we are just going to do some fun music stuff ourselves. Wednesday 13 October is going to be a pyjama party day with our singing and dancing – the new TV lets us put on some age appropriate music videos to sing and dance along to – we’re already getting requests from the kids!
The railway carriage has gone but we still have yet to prepare the site to install the new play equipment. The concrete pads that the carriage stood on need to be dug out with a digger before we can do much, and the fort needs to be demolished. A colleague of mine on a trust board elsewhere is going to help me find someone with the suitable equipment to do this demolition work for us – so watch this space. If we can time it so that the work is being done while the children are here, that would be great! We’d ensure they were at a safe distance! I mean – even big kids like watching diggers! This means we probably won’t have the new play equipment installed before the holidays, but it won’t be far away.
Working Bee
Our working bee will be held this Sunday 26 September at 10am. I’m sorry – we didn’t mean to time it to coincide with the beginning of Daylight Savings!
We’ll have a variety of tasks to do:
– replace the office curtains with the new blinds
– move any rubbish in the grounds to a point where it can be removed when the concrete pads and old fort get demolished.
– spread new gravel across the carpark
– any other tasks we can find to do!
